It is not a calorie that matters. It is how that calorie affects your body’s hormones and thus tells your body what to do with that calorie.
I have always had interest in nutrition and fitness. Over the years I have tried to stay healthy, eat right, and exercise. But that didn’t seem to always translate into maintaining the leaner body physique that I was aiming for. For almost a decade I have been researching and studying nutritional science, and recently obtained my certification as a Holistic Nutritionist Consultant. My interest is in the biology of how our body reacts to the foods we eat.
Through my journey I have tried many different dieting options, such as, calorie counting, paleo, plant-based whole foods, shakes, fasting, low/no fat, and so on. Problem was that I didn’t really understand at the time what the body was biologically doing with these “diets”. That is why I rarely saw long term changes and why most people out there also fall short of their goals. I know that most people have the intentions of eating healthy so they can be healthy. But, for the most part, I talk to people about nutrition and still realize that what we are told in the mainstream is healthy eating, in fact, is not. What we are told causes diabetes (type 2), heart disease, cardiovascular disease, and many other metabolic syndromes is, in fact, not true. What we are told to eat in order to be healthy and lose weight, in fact does just the opposite.

Do you have a family member or child that is struggling with their weight or other health issues? Perhaps taking medication to focus (Ritalin)? Having trouble staying awake in class? I can help you understand and problem solve what could likely be affecting them, as it relates to their diet.

Coaching sessions with me will be based on your individual needs and circumstances. During our time we will discuss your food choices and how they have been affecting your hormones and metabolism. I want my time with you to be individual and a learning experience. We will discuss alternatives and put some goals in place that are realistic and attainable.

What my coaching sessions will not include: You will not be asked to graze in your back yard eating grass and tree bark…even if that’s what you like. I do not have a meal plan you have to sign up for or a product you have to buy. It will also not include appetite suppressant pills, as I find correcting your hormonal response will do that for you. You will not have to sign up at the gym, enroll in a 5K or even be asked to workout.
